AR coat of arms? We did it!

Culex - Augmented Reality (AR) - AR coat of arms? We did it!

Augmented reality as a new marketing tool for the purpose of promoting culture and tourism

The intensive development of day-to-day technology in the field of Xpanded Reality enables more and more ways to present products and services to potential customers. In the crowded and average saturated market, it is necessary to create an added value of the product that will allow it to initially differentiate from the competition, delighting at first glance.

By reflecting at the future of marketing and its presentation, the County of Vukovar-Srijem, in cooperation with the #Culex XR Studio, has developed the “AR logo VSŽ”, an ideal tool for a great first impression.

We have transformed the coat of arms in an interesting way to promote all the important landscapes of all five cities in VS county: Vukovar, Vinkovci, Ilok, Županja and Island.

AR (augmented reality) is an application that, by scanning the coat of arms of Vukovar-Srijem County from any surface, creates an animated 3D model of all the elements that the logo contains (oak tree, two rivers, deer). The model can be rotated, zoomed in and zoomed out on users smartphone or tablet in the digital space, according to the wishes and needs of users. ARCore technology is supported by most devices running Android 7.0 (Nougat) and above.

The AR Logo VSZ project consists of: an interactive 3D map of the Vukovar-Srijem County, which shows the cities of Vukovar, Vinkovci, Ilok, Županja and Island. By clicking on a specific city marker, the application displays city symbols, while the audio data explains basic information about the selected city and the 3D model.

This application was created on Google’s augmented reality platform ARCore.

Using the camera, ARcore finds “interesting” points in space and analyzes their movement at a certain time. By combining the measured variables and those of the internal device sensors, it determines the orientation and position of the device as it moves through space. Inside space then finds straight surfaces and calculates their illumination. After calculating variables from the environment, ARCore allows the insertion of virtual elements into the space as well as further interaction of space, users and virtual elements
